Bequests
One of the easiest ways to make a gift to RTMD is by leaving a bequest in your Will. There are several ways you can do this. You can give a specific amount of money; you can give a specific item of property; or give a specified percentage of the residue of your estate (that which is left over after all specific gifts have been made). Since we can't predict what the greatest need will be in the future, we recommend that your bequest be for unrestricted purposes rather than directed to a specific program or purpose.
Individuals or couples who create a bequest to RTMD automatically become members of the Founders' Circle even if the amount of the bequest is not disclosed.
The following simple language can be used to make your gift:
"I give and devise ____ percent (_____%) of my residuary estate to Rebuilding Together Metro Denver, or its successor, to be used for such charitable purposes as the governing body of Rebuilding Together Metro Denver deems appropriate; provided, however, that at the time of such gift, Rebuilding Together Metro Denver, or its successor, must be a charity as described in Sections 170(c) and 2055(a) of the Internal Revenue Code."
OR
"I give and devise to Rebuilding Together Metro Denver, or its successor, the sum of ____ Dollars ($_____) to be used for such charitable purposes as the governing body of Rebuilding Together Metro Denver deems appropriate; provided, however, that at the time of such gift, Rebuilding Together Metro Denver or its successor, must be a charity as described in Sections 170(c) and 2055(a) of the Internal Revenue Code."
A bequest may be included in the body of the will or as an amendment or codicil. Gifts made by bequest usually provide an estate tax deduction. Please consult your attorney and/or financial advisor for specific information. |
