MLK Day a Day of Service Everywhere

The federal holiday celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. is only 26 years old, but the tradition of focusing the holiday as a time for service is building in communities around the country.  Denver is no exception.

Rebuilding Together Metro Denver kicked off the spirit of this holiday on January 12 and 13 at Zion Senior Center with two dozen volunteers from Rocky Mountain Business Travel Association (RMBTA) and the community, painting and replacing carpeting.  Read more about the involvement of RMBTA and their partners from the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) and see photos

Other volunteer activities in the community this week include work in the Montbello neighborhood on Monday, January 16 with Groundwork Denver; Dinner For Those Who Hunger on Monday hosted by Volunteers of America (VOA); and,  Kaiser Permanente is the title sponsor of the MLK Day of Service in Colorado in partnership with Metro Volunteers organizing over 30 projects with 600 volunteers statewide.

Please consider exploring a volunteer opportunity with Rebuilding Together.  We serve vulnerable homeowners in need of crucial home repairs and safety modifications all year-long.

“Everybody can be great…because everyone can serve…You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”   – Martin Luther King, Jr.
